WASHINGTON, DC – Matt Vogenitz of Annapolis, Maryland was named the first ever Nathan J. Stark Internship for Nonprofit Development by the National Academy of Social Insurance (NASI).
Matt studies Business and Philosophy at the University of Maryland, College Park.In addition to making the Dean’s List every semester, he is active in the University Student Judiciary, the Primmanum Honor Society, and the University of Maryland Juggling Club.Matt has an Associates degree in Automotive Technology and is recognized by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) as a Master Automotive Technician.He also plays the guitar and exercises.
During the first half of Matt’s 12-week internship, he will work in the National Academy of Social Insurance office with the Development staff learning the principles of non-profit governance and fund-raising. He will then participate in development activities at the National Health Policy Forum and attend a series of educational seminars.
Nathan J. Stark, NASI’s third President and long-term Treasurer and Board member for whom the internship is named, was instrumental in assuring the future of several Washington D.C.-based not-for-profit health policy organizations by stabilizing their finances and governance structures and mentoring their leaders.He leaves a legacy of lessons and results in fund-raising, governance, and leadership development.The Nathan J. Stark Internship is sponsored by the Allegheny Foundation, Lucile Stark, WellPoint Health Networks, the Curry Foundation, Hallmark Cards, the University of Missouri–Kansas City Medical Center, the Association of Academy Health Centers, and many individuals who contributed to the internship fund in Mr. Stark’s memory.
