Ann L. Combs And Margaret C. Simms Elected To National Academy Of Social Insurance Board of Directors

WASHINGTON, DC — The National Academy of Social Insurance (NASI) has elected Ann L. Combs and Margaret C. Simms, Ph.D. to its Board of Directors.

Ann L. Combs is Vice President and Chief Counsel, Retirement and Pension Issues for the American Council of Life Insurers. Prior to joining ACLI, Combs was a principal at William M. Mercer, Inc., a human resources consulting firm. She also served on the 1994-1995 Advisory Council on Social Security.

Combs spent six years as Deputy Assistant Secretary of Labor for the Pension and Welfare Benefits Administration in the Reagan and Bush Administrations. She currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Association of Private Pension and Welfare Benefit Plans and the Advisory Board of the Journal of Financial Service Professionals. She holds a J.D. from the George Washington University.

Margaret Simms is Vice President for Research at the Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies, a nonpartisan think tank in Washington, D.C. that focuses on policy issues of special concern to African Americans and other minorities.

Simms, who received her Ph.D. in economics from Stanford University has been active in the National Economic Association and the American Economic Association where she worked to increase the representation of African Americans within the profession. She was also a Senior Research Associate and Program Director at the Urban Institute and earlier, a Brookings Economic Policy Fellow at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
