What: A daylong seminar that offers students, interns, and others a glimpse of the political, economic, and personal issues they will face during the aging and retirement of their parents and grandparents. Attendees will grapple with the problems our elected officials will need to solve! A full agenda is available for download below.
Topics Include:
- Why this matters to young people;
- The Baby Boom and its impact on U.S. society;
- Deciphering the federal budget;
- Understanding the big federal programs (Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid); and
- How can we afford aging?
Can We Afford our Parents’ and Grandparents’ Retirement? will feature prominent guest speakers, expert panels, and interactive activities, plus opportunities for networking.
When: Friday, August 3, 2007, 8:30am-4:30pm. A free lunch is included.
Where: The Kaiser Family Foundation’s Barbara Jordan Conference Center, 1330 G Street, NW, in Washington, DC. From the Metro Center station, take the 13th Street exit.
