Restructuring Medicare: Next Steps, provides an overview of the work of the first four study panels convened under the Restructuring Medicare for the Long Term project of the National Academy of Social Insurance. The project was undertaken to examine the economic, political, social and philosophical issues involved in restructuring the Medicare program. The report was prepared under the auspices of a diverse steering committee which oversees the Academy’s work on this project.
