WASHINGTON, DC — The National Academy of Social Insurance announced today that June Eichner has joined its health research staff. Eichner will work on two Academy projects — its ongoing analysis of Medicare’s long-term challenges and a new project that will examine cross-cutting issues in ensuring health and income security for an aging work force.

“Ms. Eichner brings a wide range of experience and talent to the Academy’s interdisciplinary research team and she will be an exceptional addition to the staff,” said Lawrence H. Thompson, President of the Academy.

Eichner joins the National Academy of Social Insurance from The Lewin Group whre she was a Senior Associate in the Public Policy Practice. While at The Lewin Group, she coordinated a study analyzing health system change in twelve communities across the country and monitored state Medicaid managed care programs. Prior to that, Eichner was Health Planner for Inova Health System’s Alternate Care division and a Strategic Analytical Service Analyst for Kaiser Permanente.

Eichner has also served as Medical Program Director of the Washington Free Clinic, where she directed overall operations of the clinic. As a health educator in the U.S. Peace Corps, Eichner taught women in the Phillipines about health and family planning services. She received her Masters of science in Population Sciences from the Harvard School of Public Health and a Bachelor of Science in Food and Recource Economics from the University of Florida.
