Chair of the Academy's Workers' Compensation Steering Committee

Robert B. Steggertis currently the Chair of the Academy's Workers' Compensation Steering Committee and has been an Academy member since 1998. He is the Vice President for Casualty Claims of Marriott International Inc., located in Washington DC. Steggert has been with Marriott since 1980, and is currently responsible for their global property/casualty as well as their Occupational Health Nursing Programs. Steggert began his career in 1974 with Liberty Mutual, and has over 30 years of experience in managing casualty claims and various occupational health programs.

“Bob has a long and distinguished record of participation in workers' compensation, including serving as the President of the National Council of Self-Insurers. He has been an active member of the Academy Study Panel on National Data on Workers' Compensation, where his knowledge of self-insuring employers has been invaluable,” saidJohn F. Burton, founding Chair of the Academy's Workers' Compensation Steering Committee and Professor at the School of Management and Labor Relations (SMLR) at Rutgers University.

Steggert has served as Vice Chairman of the Workers' Compensation Research Institute between 1989-1990 and was Co-Chair of the National Labor Management Discussion Group on Workers' Compensation between 1991-95. He has been a member of the International Association of Industrial Accident Boards and Commissions (IAIABC) since 1986 and was an IAIABC College faculty member in 1993 and 1995. He is past President of the National Council of Self Insurers.
