Jill Quadagno is a new member of the Academy's Board of Directors and one of the newest members of the Membership Committee.

Jill Quadagno is a new member of the Academy's Board of Directors and one of the newest members of the Membership Committee. She is a Professor of Sociology at the Pepper Institute on Aging and Public Policy at Florida State University, where she holds the Mildred and Claude Pepper Eminent Scholar's Chair in Social Gerontology.

“We are delighted to welcome Jill to the board. She brings a wealth of knowledge about social insurance issues and with her experience in both the university environment and the Washington policy scene, she reflects the perspective of many of our members,” said Marilyn Moon, immediate past-president of the Academy.

Previously, Quadagno was a Professor at the University of Kansas. She is an editor, or on the editorial board, of several aging and sociological journals, and has published extensively in these areas. Her books include the award-winningThe Color of Welfare, and most recentlyOne Nation, Uninsured: Why the US Has No National Health Insurance. She is a member of the Gerontological Society and is Past President of the American Sociological Association. She has been a member of the Academy since 1993, and received her Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Kansas.
